Connecticut Selected As Host of USYS ODP East Region ID Camps

US Youth Soccer officially announced that Connecticut has been chosen as the host state for its Olympic Development Program (ODP) East Region ID Camps next summer. The ODP East Region ID Camp serves as a pivotal opportunity for those who aspire to represent ODP at the regional level, with the close proximity of the event being a major benefit for players involved in Connecticut ODP.

This is fantastic news for players in Connecticut,” said Josh Krusewski, Executive Director of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association. “The East Region ID Camps have never been held in Connecticut before. Hosting these regional camps at Farmington Sports Arena will be a huge benefit for those players who participate in our ODP state program here in Connecticut.”

The ODP East Region ID Camps will be held in 2023 from July 7-9th for girls and July 14-16th for boys. The three-day camp is a unique opportunity for invited players to train and compete with other top players in the East Region, and the sessions will be conducted by high-level licensed coaches. Players will also have the opportunity to be identified for future ODP East events such as Inter-Regional competition, which is the final step prior to invitation to the National Training Center (the pinnacle of the USYS Olympic Development Program).

In order to be eligible for participation in the ODP East Region ID Camps next summer, players must first be identified through Connecticut ODP. Tryouts for the 2022-23 season of Connecticut ODP will take place on November 19-20th, and registration is currently open (click here to register for tryouts).

The Olympic Development Program is an identification system linked to the United States Soccer Federation and US Youth Soccer. The program offers its players a pathway that could lead to representing Regional and U.S. Youth National Teams. Originally established in 1977, ODP was the first program in the country designed to identify potential youth national team players. ODP players begin initially at the local sector before progressing to the state, regional and possibly national levels. By playing with like-talented athletes, ODP offers the opportunity for players to advance in their personal development and to be scouted by college coaches.
